Roxy Sagegrass: My Creative Mascot

Who is Roxy Sagegrass?

You voted for her back in the summer, and she even has her own theme song. She’s the one, the only, Roxy Sagegrass! A legend in my writing world, Roxy inspires me with her head-to-toe pink when I struggle to dive into my characters and their stories.

Roxy is more than just a character; she’s a connection point, inspiring others to read about Cripple Creek. With her playful spirit, she loves to poke fun at my writing while engaging readers about what’s coming next.

The Inspiration Behind Roxy

Her all-pink outfit reflects my real-life love of pink and is inspired by the times I’ve attended the Houston Rodeo, decked out in my own pink attire and cowboy hat.

Roxy symbolizes joy and creativity, blossoming into a mascot that not only inspires me but also influences the story itself. Many of my friends commented on how much they loved her persona, saying it felt like I was channeling my inner cowgirl. So, I decided to embrace that and see if others would find inspiration in her too.

Why Pink Matters

Roxy brings a splash of pink to my Western narrative, which I believe is absolutely essential. Pink goes with everything—at least, that’s my personal opinion! Her vibrant presence has added joy to my writing process, making her a delightful addition to my social media.

Over the past year, Roxy has been a source of happiness and inspiration, and it was a thrill to introduce her to everyone last summer. I love sprinkling her into my posts, hoping others will see her as the fun-loving cowgirl she truly is.

As we celebrate a year of Murders on Cripple Creek, I couldn’t imagine this journey without Roxy Sagegrass. Stay tuned for more of her as the sequel comes up this next year! Here’s to pink!
